Sleep Apnea

Washington Post article

An article in the Washington Post Health and Science section outlined the current status of sleep disorders. I have discussed in previous Blogs some of the side effects of sleep disorders and there is growing evidence that it not only relates to health issues such as high blood pressure, but correlates with patients who clench and grind their teeth. Insurance has improved coverage and the number of sleep centers has grown and there is one now located in our building on the first floor. The CPAP breathing machine is usually the first choice for treatment, but as the article points out, many struggle to use it. We are very familiar with the fabrication of bite appliances and the apnea appliances I have made to date have been effective. Let us know if you suspect a problem related to your snoring or overall health and see if a sleep study and appliance therapy is right for you.
